On June 27, 2025 the U.S. Supreme Court issued a decision in Mahmoud v. Taylor, which gives parents/guardians the ability to opt their children out of specific instructional materials or lessons that conflict with their sincerely held religious beliefs. In the Carlsbad Unified School District, one of our core goals is to build supportive, inclusive environments for all students to thrive. When families have questions about instructional materials or lessons used in their child’s classroom, we encourage those families to communicate directly with their child’s teacher(s) or site administrator. The opt-out form below, or an email, may also be submitted to the site principal.
